Trackside Clearance (2) North Bank Crossing

Throughout the Autumn of 2008 and into the early months of 2009 Ron Norris and his son Mark have spent many many hours clearing the huge amount of trackside vegetation from the point covered in trackside clearance 1 right up to the North Bank crossing gates. This has included the felling of many trees which were both overhanging the track and our neighbours gardens so pleasing two groups of people in one go !! You will see in the picture bottom left how close the trees are to our DMMU at the North bank Crossing - now compare to the picture bottom right taken from the same viewpoint in March 2009 and the transformation is incredible.Better visibility for Drivers and a much more interesting view for the passengers.Despite Ron not enjoying the best of health in recent times he has simply refused to let the job remain unfinished , an attitude admirably representative in Mark too. 50 years of untamed growth now beginning to come under control and giving tantalising glimpses of the railway as it looked in its heyday - remarkably well kept and with extensive views on all parts of the journey.

Martin Ravell has also smartened the appearance of the North bank Crossing Keepers Hut with threee coats of green paint helping to compliment the improvement of this area and the abundance of daffodils here now simply makes a good job better.
