Eythorne Clearance (2) Station Site

Further clearance work by the industrious John Griffiths and fellow members of the Thursday Gang has led to a stunning transformation

at Eythorne Station.For many years passengers on the platform or indeed arriving by train could see only a long line of trees and undergrowth alongside the track opposite the platform totally blocking a beautiful view of a meadow below and the curve of the hill upwards. Following many hours of back breaking work the undergrowth has been almost entirely cleared and many old trees removed giving a wonderful new look to this picture postcard rural station.

You will see from the pictures below just how much it has changed with the picture below left giving an indication of the station without a view to the picture (bottom right and bottom) of the station with a great view !!
