The pictures below kindly sent in from David Latham show his track-gang on fishplate greasing duties between Golgotha Tunnel and Farm Crossing 1983. I am reliably informed by David that he was the van driver of an elderly Leyland Terrier Personnel Carrier and that the gang used spanners and washing up bottles to undertake the greasing!! Colonel Stephens would definately have approved.
If anyone has any other archive photos of the EKR in BR days please get in touch and help to grow this fascinating archive.
More superb pictures from David Latham below , showing from left to right:-
-Shepherdswell Station remains
-Golgotha Tunnel
-Selling Signal Box in its original location before transfer to the present day EKR
at Eythorne Station
All photos taken in 1985
David has also kindly sent in the pictures below of the interior of Selling Signal Box from its working life as guardian of Selling Station and also of his good lady Bev taken on the platform of Shepherdswell Station in 1982.She would have to wait 13 years for the next train - a long time even by BR standards !!!
A great and rare photo provided by David taken by Peter Glenn in 1976 . It shows probably the last railtour of the EKR on board hastings Unit 1034 returning from Tilmanstone Colliery . I believe the unit is shown on the Wigmore Lane Extension which as can be seen then had no housing encroaching and gave great views over the fields to each side
